Beauty Boss Eats: Yummy Solo-Esthetician Chocolate Pie
A lot of times, a recipe comes with a story, and if you’re lucky, it’s a good one. There are certain dishes that remind me of my mother and the way she used to cook. These meals are hard to forget. Today, I enjoy recreating some of the meals my mom whipped up and in my kitchen I find myself recreating them, and adding my own unique spin to them. When I cook sometimes I feel like I am paying homage to my mom and how wonderfully she captured my palate. There are so many instances I day dream of being courageous like my mom, she’s one of those unique human beings, amidst her far flung world of simplicity lies the creative juices only she possesses where none of her daughters even come close and yet we are so much like her but thriving as our own person. When her baking prowess over power my longings of her kitchen I come home and have my way with it.
In the kitchen this month….chocolate cake that is smooth and silky? Yes, thats what i had in mind . I remember my mothers chocolate cake but I’m not making a cake-I am going to delve into the demand of cravings that is a PIE-re-birth, the magical silky creamy feel the way i imagined it and indulge. As we celebrate Women’s History Month and move into Mothers Day do you have any home goodies that you want to recreate to pay homage to the woman that captured your taste palate? Mine is a chocolate pie. Always remember that women around the world are capable of doing anything and everything we put our minds to. Sharing with you an easy recipe for you to enjoy with the people you love celebrating with.

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
9-inch basic flaky piecrust, prebaked (can be store bought)

(Be creative and have fun-you can make your pie look the way you want it to be-dress it, sparkle it-let it be the sky is the limit)
DIRECTIONS:
In a large saucepan over medium heat, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, and salt. Continue to cook over medium heat, whisking, until thickened, 7 to 8 minutes. Whisk in chopped chocolate and butter.
Pour mixture into the piecrust. Chill until firm, 4 to 5 hours. Before serving, whip heavy cream; top the pie with the whipped cream and shaved chocolate. Enjoy!
